Agius & Partners SA is currently recruiting on behalf of our esteemed Swiss private banking client.

We are seeking a Compliance Officer to join the Compliance department within a leading Private Bank. This is an opportunity to provide proactive compliance support to the Front Office, ensuring adherence to both internal guidelines and external regulatory requirements. In this role, you will also oversee the execution of the second line of defence controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the Bank’s compliance with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards, particularly in areas like anti-money laundering, sanctions & embargoes, and market abuse.
  • Conduct both material (e.g., KYC, Tax Compliance) and formal (e.g., CDB, QI, FATCA, CRS) reviews in relation to account openings and changes in client circumstances.
  • Perform second-level defence controls, including material, formal, and transactional analysis during periodic reviews.
  • Monitor transactions for anti-money laundering, sanctions violations, and market abuse risks.
  • Lead investigations and report findings to the Money Laundering Reporting Office Switzerland (MROS).
  • Collaborate with other departments, offering expert guidance on compliance-related matters.
  • Take part in special Compliance projects, as assigned by senior management.

Your Profile:

Education:

  • University degree in Law, Economics, or Finance.
  • A Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Compliance in Financial Services is an asset.

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role within a Swiss bank.

  • Ability to distill complex issues into practical solutions, with sound decision-making and risk escalation when necessary.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.

Technical Expertise:

  • In-depth knowledge of the Swiss regulatory landscape.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills being an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluent in both French and English; additional languages are a plus.
